Shoko Press will be showcasing our titles at Africa Writes this Saturday, 1st July, 2017. Held over three days at the British Library in London, the Africa Writes festival is an annual celebration of contemporary literature from Africa and the diaspora organised by the Royal African Society. The festival features book launches, readings, author appearances, panel discussions, youth and children’s workshops, and other activities.
This year’s highlights include: acclaimed Francophone Congolese writer, Alain Mabanckou in Converstion speaking on his life and work; an editing Masterclass for Writers with editor and critic, Ellah Wakatama Allfrey OBE, Africa Writes Young Voices Showcase; a Kanga Exhibition in partnership with Jalada Africa, a mobile literary and arts festival that celebrates diversity and creates living connections between writers, artists, and diverse audiences in the big cities and small towns across East Africa; and a Dragon’s Den style Meet The Publisher’s panel to pitch your manuscript and; the 2017 Caine Prize Conversation.
